Meta-Modale B Glissotar Premiere in Bordeaux
On November 26, 2024, Etienne Rolin premiered his concerto Meta-Modale B Glissotar with the Montaigne Modern Orchestra near Bordeaux. Conducted by Pascal Pistone, the performance highlighted the Glissotar’s versatile tone and microtonal capabilities. The Montaigne Modern Orchestra, known for promoting contemporary music, offered an inspiring platform for this innovative composition. This event adds another landmark to the instrument’s emerging repertoire, affirming its place in modern orchestral music.
Celebrating Ensemble Zeitfluss
Earlier this year, Ensemble Zeitfluss celebrated its 20th anniversary in Graz’s beautiful Minoritensaal. Among the featured works was anticlinal flux by Hannes Kerschbaumer, where Szilárd Benes showcased the Glissotar. This performance demonstrated the instrument’s ability to seamlessly integrate into contemporary ensembles and elevate new compositions.
Microtonal Exploration with Tolgahan Çoğulu
A groundbreaking session at the Liszt Academy in Budapest saw Tolgahan Çoğulu and Dániel Váczi exploring Turkish makam scales on the Glissotar. This innovative collaboration illuminated the instrument’s potential for microtonal music, bridging cultural traditions with modern soundscapes.
The Dániel Váczi Glissonic Trio in Brussels
On the 6th of November, the 210th birthday of Adolph Sax, the Dániel Váczi Glissonic Trio performed at the Liszt Institute in Brussels, presenting compositions and improvisations from their new album, Urobo.
